Norton 360 compatibility with Windows ARM

Hi all,

I’m planning to purchase a Windows ARM laptop and transfer my current Norton subscription to it. But I’ve read about compatibility issues with non-native ARM apps such as Norton. I have also read through the list of Norton system requirements and it states that:

“Windows support includes devices using x86/x64 and Snapdragon X (Plus and Elite)/ARM chips. Norton device security features such as Norton Family Parental Controls, Cloud Backup, Software Updater, and Game Optimizer are currently not supported on Windows 11 ARM devices.”

So I have two main questions:

  1. Has anyone used (or is using) Norton currently with a Windows ARM device? If so, I’d be so grateful if you could share your experience.
  2. Does the above system requirements statement mean that on an ARM device, I won’t be able to, say, use Norton to back up to the cloud? This could be a dealbreaker for me, and I may need to cancel my subscription.

Thank you very much in advance!

Hello JoanneNicole. The Windows Microsoft app is the only choice for S mode and ARM CPU based devices at present. Its features include:

Norton Go/ Norton for Gamers are basically the same. The depreciated features NOT available on ARM are:
Notification Optimization, Cloud Backup and Norton SafeCam are only available on Windows (excluding Windows 10 in S mode, Windows running on ARM Processor).

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

From what you explained, I take it that the answer to my second question is yes, that ARM devices will not have cloud backup on Norton, among the other “depreciated features” you listed. That’s very disappointing as I will now need to cancel my subscription in a few months before it renews.

Thanks again.

What you need to do if you are no longer going to use Norton is turn off the Automatic Renewal for your 360 subscription, and remove your billing information from your Norton Account to ensure nothing can be ‘accidentally’ charged to your credit card.

I have a naive hope that the app support for ARM improves in the coming weeks and Norton releases a native ARM app in time so I won’t have to cancel. In the meantime, I’ll keep your advice in mind and remove my billing information when the time draws near.

Glad we could help. Please let us know if you need assistance again. Someone is always here to help as much as we possibly can.

Just be aware that Norton can take the payment for auto renewal up to 45 days before the subscription expires. I would suggest turning off auto renewal and removing payment information now to avoid any problems. It will not affect your current subscription.

Personally, I NEVER use cloud backup. I do full hard drive image backup to an external HD using Macrium Free. If you get infected with anything, your backup is safe because it will not be connected. (Except when backing up.) With cloud backup, infected files could be sent to the cloud before you realize you are infected. Even if your had drive dies, you do a 1 step recovery of your image to a new hard drive and you are back up and running. Instead of spending massive hours reloading everything from scratch and then trying to get back your data. Over 200 of my customers use the External hard drive system I recommend. And Macrium free has no monthly cost. So keep using Norton, but do your own backup.

Hello,
cloud backup is supported for ARM devices since August release. Iteratively we are planning to add arm support for all missing features. In the end, this final experience to be not to be able to recognize, if you are running on x86 or ARM arch

The Norton 360 antivirus works very well with my Surface laptop 7 ARM x elite, the equipment is very good for software, everything works natively and others are emulated. (a marvel). The only problem I have had is with the drivers There are only drivers for Epson and Canon printers, with the rest of the printers you can have many problems, that is, you cannot install them. Despite this, I am very happy, my printers are Epson and I have a Fujitsu scanner and it also works. But a Brother label printer, there are no drivers. Not even the native drivers that Win 11 ARM has can install it. The battery is amazing. And the fluidity of the programs.

Hi, Is any setup process documented to install on a Qualcomm snapdragon x elite based WoA PC (Dell XPS)?
