For the last few months Norton 360 crashes every minute of so right after blocking access to werfault.exe (per history) see attached image.
Also one of the two services stops running when this occurs. I can restart and then it crashes again within a minute. (also attached)
It is consitent and reproducable. I have updated many times, tried uninstall and reinstall. Interestingly enough after fresh install it works for a few hours before going back into crash mode again. I saw this problem in another thread about a year ago that was fixed with hotfix.
Contacted support that then escalated to level 2. They closed the case after not being able to reach me, calling twice over the weekend. Great customer service... NOT!
Anyone else see this issue? More importantly, any suggestions for a fix? It has already crashed twice during the time I typed this.
Did you add it to the exclusion list under performance monitoring or somehwere else? It continues to crash with the same error for werfaulte.exe blocking access.
I did not experience any crashing due to werfault.exe.
I had a lot of entries in my history log for Norton that said that Norton had blocked this program but no action was needed. I found it was Norton Tamper Protection that was giving me this message and also that the program was Windows Error Reporting and was a part of the OS and therefore could not be removed.
I did shut off Norton Tamper Protection for a short time but I do not recommend that. Then realized that excluding the program from the Norton scanners was the way to go and since then no more entries in the history log.
I also have excluded a number of programs that were bumping up against Norton and maybe Norton should hard code these exclusions before we install Norton 360 as they are all common programs from Windows and HP as well as others.
Were you seeing the same crashing problem? Seems this is something norton should fix. I have attempted to add it half a dozen times but it crashes before I can finish adding it. Thank you though for the suggested work around. I will continue trying.
