Issue abstract: Norton 360 crashed when updating
Detailed description: July 7, 2025 - routine Norton 360 update - updating stuck several minutes, spinning wheel – closed screen, retried, same result – shut down PC, reboot, all Norton windows were blank white with spinning wheel - closed rebooted again, same result - had to download and run Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool (NRnR) - NRnR loaded, I selected Remove & Reinstall, and NRnR immediately seemed stuck on 0% files removed for about 7 to 10 minutes and then suddenly started working and removed all files, but did not begin a reinstall - got Windows 11 warning the security had been removed – used old, saved N360Downloader file from 2023 to reinstall - had to enter my Norton username and password a couple of times, reinstall made product and virus updates a couple of times and end result was I got N360 back OK with my subscription intact. Anybody else have this problem with today’s or a prior update? I was able to do all this on my own, but I am very low level in tech skills for such problems. I think this problem would have left a large percentage of users in real trouble. Note – full system scan found clean PC - no issues.

Same issue yesterday July 7th with Win 10 22H2. I also posted on the pinned V25 thread on this forum. Starting on July 7th, my Norton 360 25.6.10221 would get stuck during Live Update with the spinning wheel. I had to force shut down my computer. Whenever Live Update was run, the same issue would reproduce. Troubleshooting repair did not fix the issue. I finally ran the Remove/Reinstall tool which did take a while to remove. The reinstall did look to have resolved the issue … at least for now. I’ve got a feeling many others may be having this issue as well.

I did have a similar experience the other day where Norton would not load properly. A computer Restart fixed the issue. Restart not Shutdown and startup again.

Thanks for the reply, good to know it was not just me.

Thanks for the reply, good to know it was not only me. I did not use restart b/c I have paused Windows updates. I learned the hard way that restarting Norton when Windows updates are paused installs the updates you wanted to wait on. I give Windows updates about a month to get the bugs out before installing. Shutdown and rebooting keeps the Windows updates paused . . . at least that seems to work for me.
