For some odd reason my Norton 360 crashes during a scan. After it starts it'll take a couple minutes then it'll exit itself and sometimes reopen back up by itself but does not continue scanning.
I've been using Norton 360 for a few years in a row now and have been a Norton user for many years.
It will not crash during small scans, it'll usually only do it on large ones like full C:\ or full E:\ drive scans.
This is quite frustrating when you just want to turn on a full system scan and leave it there.
I have reinstalled my Norton 360 and I have also used the Norton Reinstall tool and I still have this issue.
At first it would only do it on the SSD and the cores would all be used a lot so I figured Symantec put a temperature safety on it and when it got above ~75C+ it would automatically exit it. (If thats true, I would like to take that off.)
Now it even does it when I'm scanning my hard drive but my temperatures dont get high at all since the hard drive isn't putting out data fast as the solid state.
Hi, evan1715. I just wanted to make sure we were talking about the Norton Removal and Reinstall Tool, which is a different tool to the Norton Removal Tool, which will do a more thorough job if you just wish to uninstall.
In N 360 when you run a Full System Scan the following occurs:
Checks all the boot records, the files, and the programs that are running to protect your computer from viruses and spyware. It also runs other activities such as LiveUpdate, Cleanup, Disk Optimization, and Backup to provide a high level of protection and performance to your computer.
Is it possible that one of the additional tasks that are run with the full system scan is causing your situtaion? These addtional tasks do not run with the Quick Scan.
Could you select the TuneUp Block and run the Diagnostic Report and see if there may be a hint in it about your situation.
Also please tell us the version of N 360 you are running (Support > About) and either the Standard or the Premiere edition.
