This software program is irritating and inaccurate
One of my machines is being listed with 4 drivers needing updating, yet when I check device manager, the drivers are already identical to the driver updater advice in all respects.
Further when I run Norton Utilities Ultimate, this unhelpfully lists some drivers without any information on what driver is suspect!!
Firstly the programmers need to try harder and be accurate and helpful.
Secondly regarding Utilities, why are they coaxing the user to spend money to fix a problem that may not exist?
Or is that what the actual driver updater program does? Just remove the suspect driver list?
I have no intention on spending money on this presently useless irritation
@TDW It is suggested NOT using Norton Driver Updater because it is often times more inaccurate than accurate. Use Windows updates and your hardware manufacturer websites for your drivers and other software. Using DU can result in rendering your computer not usable.
Regarding Norton Utilities Ultimate do the same, DO NOT utilize it for drivers as well for the same reasons.
My suspicions and your response confirm my decision to avoid this method of updating.
it is a great disappointment that the current Norton team are damaging the previous good reputation of the products and are clearly more aligned with claiming more fees rather than offering something its users could trust.
Having checked the Device Manager for driver versions, I am puzzled how the Norton 360 can get it so wrong and not update after rescans! The Norton Utilities scan is worse than useless as list various potential driver problems but no clear advice on which drivers they consider out of date.
In answer to my title question - it is NOT fit for purpose.
