Norton 360 Excessive CPU and Memory Use

I just upgraded to Norton 360 version 22.5.5.15. I am running Windows 7.  Now, once it completes a full scan, it continues to use 25% of CPU. This causes noticeable slowness on my computer. This CPU usage does not go back down until I reboot.

I've also noticed excessive memory usage. It's using almost all of my 12gb of memory.

Running SysInternals RAMmap, I see that there is over 8gb of mapped files.

Looking at the file summary, I know that these are files I do not have opened in any other application.  My assumption is that Norton is scanning them, but something is preventing Norton from completing the scan and releasing the memory. Before the recent upgrade Norton was able to scan these same files without any problem.

Anybody know what is going on? Does anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve it? As a temporary workaround I may exclude the directory where the files are (they are static and have not changed in a while), but I am concerned that the same thing with files in other directories.

Thanks.
