Norton IPS Firefox AddOn seems to cause my Firefox v3.5.5 to crash everytime I start Firefox. I manage to isolate the problem by disabling all AddOns in Firefox Safe Mode and enable the AddOns one by one to identify Norton IPS which is the culprit for the Firefox crashing issue. I am running Norton 360 v3.5.2.11. Please advice.

Let us know if you have changed any of your Firefox settings instead of the default one. And can you provide us the list of addons you have currently installed.
I also experience the same problem, Norton IPS caused the firefox to crash, already installed firefox 3.5.6 unfortunately same thing happened. Keep on crashing, after disabling norton IPs, then it could start.
I have the exact same problem. I installed the Firefox 3.5.6 update today and it immediately crashed. I went in and disabled the Norton IPS 1.0 extension and everything was working back to normal. This is clearly an issue with Norton working with the 3.5.6 update just released on 12/15/09. How do we get a Norton fix for this problem?
Try disabling the OneClick YouTube Downloader extension.
I had the same problem with Firefox crashing on start after upgrading to 3.5.6, and went through the same procedure of disabling all apps from Safe Mode, then adding them back one at a time (alphabetically).
I found that it worked, until I enabled the OneClick YouTube Downloader. On that one, it crashed, but once it was disabled again, it worked again with all other extensions enabled (including Norton IPS).
I did a bit more testing when I saw this thread, and if either Norton IPS or OneClick YouTube Downloader is enabled everything's fine, but if both are enabled and it crashes.
Are you still having problems with firefox and IPS definitions? I know that there was an update to the IPS definitions for NAV/NIS yesterday I believe. I noticed that the number of defintions decreased from the last update. Perhaps this change in IPS definitions might have solved the problem. I would assume that N360 would get the same IPS definitions, but I'm not sure about that.
Thanks for coming back and reporting that all is well again. Thanks also for marking your problem as solved and the solution that solved the problem. Stay safe on the net with your N360 product. If you have any further problems, please come back and open up a new thread.
