Norton 360 issue

When using USPS (United States Postal Service) site that I have used many times caused issues with my PC. Operating windows 11.

After signing on and creating a shipping label the problems begin. In the Pay system you can not use PayPal or credit card to complete sale. My PC would hang up and later requiring a reboot refresh. After several attempts with no result this morning my work around solution was signing in to USPS with Norton Fire wall,WiFi, and password manager disabled I was able to complete the transaction.

I tried chat and you required a payment and as longtime Norton subscriber I thought this was very unusual. Phone long waits and no email to contact Norton.

Norton trying to make you aware of the situation and I have my own work around as mentioned above.

What was the name of the file detected by FixZeroAccess??

Hi,

Sorry - I don't remember and didn't write it down. Is there some way for me to find out.

Thanks.

I just tried FixZeroaccess earlier on a variant and it doesn't fix some things and I also couldn't also find a log output for what actions the program took,  I did find an archive it created.:smileyfrustrated:

I also found where Symantec states where they are saying to use Norton Power Eraser (NPE) on Zeroaccess :smileymad: I have already had to fix systems where NPE has been used causing Windows not to boot afterwards

Do you have a Flash Drive??

I downloaded the Norton 360 v6 product to solve some issues on my laptop. Had to get rid of IE8 and go to IE7 in order to facilitate the download. Once downloaded, it found many issues, most of which resolved without any input from me. I did have something called FixZeroAccess, which required a reboot and disabling system restore. BTW, Windows XP, SP3 system olde Dell Latitude D600. After I followed the directions, my laptop will not connect to the internet - signal strength good, acquiring network address. This happens both wireless, as well as if I hook directly to the router. The desktop is hooked to the same router with no issues. I am not very tech savvy, so will appreciate any input or help. Thanks.

Yes I do have a flash drive.

Download these 3 programs, and place them on to the Flash Drive  (change the hxxp to http in the addresses)

hxxp://oldtimer.geekstogo.com/OTL.exe

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/anti-virus/combofix

hxxp://download.bleepingcomputer.com/farbar/FRST.exe

Plug the Flash Drive into the infected PC and transfer OTL and Combofix  (Not FRST.exe) on to the Desktop and wait for the next instructions.

i have not heard of this issue before with usps site, it could be the browser ( seems unlikely) why norton firewall or any other part would be causing a issue is strange

you could see if the auto fix tool would find something , sometimes will find a installation or other issue

in classic mode top right click help, screen pops up on left click on get support

let that run can take a minute or so if it says all good click close

if it finds a issue it will proberly have you do a restart

After several attempts with no result this morning my work around solution was signing in to USPS with Norton Fire wall,WiFi, and password manager disabled I was able to complete the transaction.

Did you turn off each feature one at a time so you could pin down which one is causing your issue? If not, it would help if you could do this next time.

Not using VPN

Norton Official Support is via Chat / Phone.  Sorry, no email support.
Chat / Phone support are free.

If you are using a VPN, try turning it off. Many web sites do not allow access from known VPN IP addresses. They do this for copyright, legal, security, and political reasons. There is nothing a VPN provider can or should do to circumvent these legal protections. See this How to Geeks article.   https://www.howtogeek.com/403771/why-do-some-websites-block-vpns/
