Norton 360 Live Update

For the last 15 hours, I have been unable to complete an update for Norton Power Eraser through live update. It keeps coming up 'process updates fail to complete'.  Every other update works (Norton virus defs, IPS defs etc.) though.

I have contacted Norton support, but each person gave me a different answer.

I have a Windows 7 Home Premium laptop (Service Pack 1)

Norton 360: version 21.2.0.38.

Many Thanks

Sam Waller

I am new to this but I having problem with the Norton360 Live Update. I am using the Norton360 Version 20.3.0.36 on Window 7. I tried removing the product and reinstalled it but it wouldn't work. I understand that there is a problem with the Live Update and there is a patch for the English Only bu I didn't know what that mean. I can check for update but it won't download the update.

What can I do to fix this?

Update

Never mind, it FINALLY downloaded the update.. Sorry for created a new message.. Problem fixed

Hi Waller92,

I've asked some of the folks upstairs to have a look at this.

Only thing I can suggest is a more complete cleaning out after the uninstall:

I  feel the following may be worth a try.  NOTE to others following this thread: I am not a win 8(.1) user and I understand that the Non-Plug adn Player Drivers may not be visible, so you may not be able to delete those files.

Please open Run by pressing windows key + R -> devmgmt.msc -> View Show

Hidden devices -> open Non-Plug and Play Drivers-> Maximize the Screen

If you have Identity Safe data Export it ->

Go to Control panel uninstall N360 ->select the second option to

completely uninstall ->restart -> Run Norton Removal Tool -> Restart ->

Go to the maximized page -> if you find   NAVENG, NAVEX15, Norton Antivirus settings manager, starting from Symantec

Data Store to SymEvent (entries starting with Sym)  ->right click on them

click uninstall -> For the Restart prompts select no -> Go to Program files

if you find Norton Folder delete it -> Go to Run ->type temp ->Delete all

the files in there -> Run -> %temp% ->delete all ->Now Restart the PC -

>Install  the N 360 you have a license for (Standard or Premiere)

or

->Run Live Update until you get no updates found

message ->restart PC

Let us know how it went for you.

Thanks for the responses. I’m not sure if I feel comfortable doing such a drastic uninstall at this stage. Obviously, I made need to reluctantly do it later on. I will wait to see if there is an easier fix.

Strange thing is that two other computers in my house managed to update it with no problems. One of the chat colleagues said there is maintenance on live update servers. Is this possible?

Maintenance is always possible, the rule of thumb is to allow 24 hours for it to correct itself in case it is a server glitch. since all the other updates appear to be working, it cuts down the possibility of a server glitch. If you do not feel comfortable doing the procedure. lets wait and se if we get some word back from Norton.

According to Nate_C:

This issue should be resolved now. There was a problem with the LiveUpdate file that was published earlier.

Please let us know if you continue to see the issue.

Regards,

Nate C.

I would suggest running LU again and let us know if it downloads and installs now.

After 20+ hours of stress, several chats to Norton support and two reinstalls, it finally worked!

Such a relief :smileyhappy:

Thanks to Norton Yank and the guys from Norton. Much appreciated!

Thanks,

Sam
