Norton 360 LiveUpdate not working correctly

Yesterday (8/10/09,) my Norton 360 alerted me that LiveUpdate had updates for threats and such and that I needed to update it. Upon clicking “update” though, it ran for about five seconds before telling me that the “scan was already running” which I thought was odd because I’d only clicked “update” once.

So, I restarted my computer and waited until the “update” box appeared, clicked “update” and it seemed to be running fine. However, I let it run most of the day and by the time I went to bed, it hadn’t done anything. Not to mention, when I rebooted my computer, I did a full scan including virus/spyware/disk defrag and LiveUpdate, which supposedly “completed,” however, I still have that yellow exclamation point. There were no viruses found during the scan.

It’s still doing it today and I’m at a loss as to what else to do. It isn’t giving me any sort of error or anything. It just either starts updating and takes forever and never does anything or tells me that it’s already running when I’ve only clicked the button once.

I’ve tried downloading a “fix” from Symantec via the web that I found when I googled the problem and still it won’t update. What it does instead is keep telling me that LiveUpdate is “running” and “active” but it’s like this for several hours without any changes.

Does anyone else have any other solutions?
