Norton 360 opens by itself every day

Every morning I find the Norton 360 main application window open on my screen. This just started happening a couple days ago.

The current installed version is 22.23.8.4.

Now it is happening again. This is annoying.

It just opened again. So, it is not a daily problem. It is more often than that. Looking at history, the most recent event was a scan six hours ago.

Based on your comment, I just checked history. I have an entry for today

6:59am quick scan

8:57am live update

10:48 firewall rules updated.

I am not positive when the app opened today. I'm sure it was well after the first two, but it might have been before or after the firewall rules were updates.

It is possible that this has nothing to do with the latest Norton 360 update and has to do with my fiddling with settings.

I had been wondering why the only notification I ever saw (other than downloaded file scans) was a "Norton has completed performance tasks" just after I login each morning. I wanted to see if I could get Norton 360 to add a notification to Windows Notification panel every time it performed any background operation. I struggle at times with my system becoming unresponsive and when I look at the processes in task manager sometimes there is a Norton process using CPU. Sadly, that process always has a generic name so I don't know if it is performing a scan, running live update, or who knows what else.

I would welcome an help on how to monitor what Norton is doing at any given time.

 

 

Hello Julie777. There isn't a "fix" for this issue that is known presently. There are other users, myself included, who are seeing this. Here are some of the other threads that have been posted.

What I have found which may be related to the common issue is on my side, I see a "quick scan" as having been performed and logged into Norton history most times when the main UI is found open on my desktop. In every case I find the UI opened on its own when I have locked out the computer and later returned. And upon using the computer at first login in the morning. Its affecting ALL my machines with Norton running on them. I use Norton 360 Deluxe on my Windows 11 machine and Norton Security Ultra on all the others. They are all running the latest version 22.23.1.21 as well so this is a common issue across more than just one Norton product. Please follow through with these threads as I hope we have an answer for all affected soon.
