I recently updated (automatically) to NIS 21.2.0.38 even though it shows Norton 360 Premier on the shortcut. My problem is the update is now jumping the CPU to 99% usage and bringing everything to a holt whenever I try to check my outlook email, use quicken, open the internet(web page), etc. Is there a fix for this or is this the way Norton will continue to support their products on XP operating system. I am not a computer guru, so please no highly technical responses. Also, I'm not ready (over 75 yrs old) to launch something new, ie Windows 8 plus.
Thanks for your response. I have been using Norton 360 Premier. I do not remember the version number. But, when my subscription was about to expire, an associate at Norton recommended last year when I had problems, that I check the Norton website for the current version. When I did, it indicated that I needed to update and this I did, after which I started having problems. My computer shows that I am now running Noton 360 Premier version (engine) 21.2.0.38. Upon running their Tune up program, it indicated that my hard drive was nearly full and recommended I remove unnecessary programs. I was runing Firefox and Chrome and uninstalled Chrome because it took up more space. I also uninstalled older programs that I no longer use. I ended up freeing up about 25% of space. This still did not help the problem I was having. That is when I contacted Norton for support & was redirected to this Community site.
My problem is still not solved & I've cancelled my automatic renewal of Norton for next time.
