Norton 360 Premier Edition Installation

My Norton 360 expires in about 20 days so I'm trying to upgrade to Norton 360 Premier Edition (it's the same price as a Norton 360 upgrade so why not?).  It doesn't seem to install correctly despite many attempts.  Do I have to uninstall Norton 360 before installing Norton 360 Premier Edition and if so will I lose my unexpired Norton 360 days.

Cheers, Mick.

Welcome Mick,

I'm sorry to say that the answer to both of your questions is yes. I woulld recommend that you wait until you get closer to the current expiration date then download the Norton Removal Tool. When you decide to make the change do a control panel uninstall of the current version of 360 and reboot, run the removal tool and reboot. Then you should be ready to install the new version. Be sure to run live update until the program tells you that all updates have been downloaded and installed.

Let us know how it goes, we'll leave a light on

Mick,

Further to Dick's confirmation of how the system works -- you would do no harm to contact the Norton Customer Support ONLine using the CHAT function as below and asking if they can merge the two accounts in some way since you want to upgrade from Standard to Premier and did not realize it was not as simple as it looks.

I'm pretty sure that I've heard of them sorting this out in a helpful way although I don't know if they would take a few days off the combined total as compensation for the higher price for Premier in normal circumstances or whether they will just be real nice!

I suspect they will work something out with you.

To contact customer support Click on this link and work on from there. You may have to scroll down a little to see the CHAT button.

You can choose CHAT or Email; email or phone may have a long wait time and feedback from users tells us that CHAT is by far the best at resolving problems.

Note that that link is to the USA/CAN website so if you are located elsewhere I'm sure you will be able to find the equivalent location on your local Symantec website; some pages have a link at the top right where you can select the country you are located in.

Please let us know how you get on ....
