I have an active account with 3 computers (max allowed) covered with norton 360 premier edition. Over the past 4 months or so I have lost 2 of the computers due to hard drive errors. I have not been able to uninstall prior to their downfall.
My account shows all 3 computers are being used, when in reality, only 1 is being used. How do I get back those 2 "unused" computer slots if I can't uninstall from hard drives?
I have a new computer ready to go ... but want to go with the 360 and not the standard trial load of internet security.
I also have an auto-renewal set for next month. If I can't get back my two "unused" computer slots, I will need to go elsewhere for coverage ... and cancel my subscription. Been a faithful subscriber to Norton since the ealry 2000's ...

I needed a fourth copy of NIS 2013 for my home. Amazon had Norton 360 Premier for a difference of $15.00 more, so it looked like a good bet considering the 25 GB backup.
I installed it on my ASUS Windows 8 (1 year old) and my Gateway laptop (5 years old), uninstalling NIS 2013 from theASUS. No problems. Today, I tried to install it on another, older Windows 7 desktop.
This was an install from hell. It installed fine at first, but I kept getting messages that Norton was trying to fix some problems, and giving me some error codes. The fix seemed to run forever without end. I checked the community and found several suggestions to fix the problem, but none worked. I uninstalled the problem, installed a copy from a digital download, go was told that there were security problems. It clicked on fix now, which also ran on forever. I licked on View Details and my PC crashed (no
event Log entries).
Tried Live Update, but all problems persisted. Fianlly uninstalled and reinstalled NIS 2013 - no problem with it.
I would not have gone through any of this if I were able to purchase NIS 2013 (or 360 f0r that matter) for 1 PC (or upgrade my present installation for 1 PC only) at a reasonable price. Unfortuately, this cannot be done, at least in the USA.
The idea of offering a 3 PC package is a good one, but it should be possible add PCs one at a time as needed.
For whatever reason, Norton 360 was a nightmare for me - don't see why it should have been such a problem when NIS was not.
Symantec sells its products directly and through retail partners. Part of the agreement with those partners is that Symantec will not undercut the pricing of these partners. The partners in turn are free to set the price at whatever level they are comfortable with for their profit margins.
The price for a subscription Renewal is often more expensive and reflects a "Convenience Fee" for those that do not want to spend time searching for lower pricing, or risk forgetting to renew the subscription and risk losing their security protection.
This has been discussed many times on these forums, so Symantec is aware of the users concerns.
