I cold not find any settings in Norton 360 to âcompact all folders when it will save over 3xx MB in totalâ or âto compact all folders when it will save over 5xx MD in totalâ
I have the same issue, Thunderbird stops working after upgrade to the new version.
In my case i have the Thunderbird profile on a NAS in the local network, if i copy the profile to a local folder on my PC it is working again.
This is in my opinion mainly due to the fact that Norton tries to prevent access to the key storage of Thunderbird and Firefox but miserably fails to do so when the profile is not stored in the default location.
I have the same effect on three machines now. They received the update with several days delay and on each of them Thunderbird stopped working after the upgrade.
This is definitely a severe bug in Norton that will have me cancel my subscription of it is not solved very, very soon !
I had the same problem with Thunderbird not working with the Norton vpn turned on. I tried the ideas above and they did not work for me. I even tried tunneling with no luck. But I did solve it. My problem is that Norton had my network listed as open so I changed it to private and my Thunderbird problem was resolved. Hope this helps someone.
I thought I had solved my Thunderbird not working with the Norton VPN turned on but the problem came back. So I used copilot to see if I could get some help and it told me to make changes in Thunderbird. To change my mail server name to imap-comcast-net and use port 993 and set security to SSL/TLS. I had to spend some time trying different options for both the incoming server and the outgoing server. My final setting that allowed Thunderbird to work with the Norton vpn turned on is as follows.
Thunderbird mail server name is imap-comcast-net and the port is 995 and the security is SSL/TLS.
The Thunderbird outgoing server name is smtp-comcast-net and the port is 465 and the security is SSL/TLS.
I had to use dashes in the server names because this site doesât allow actual web site names in the messages.
It has been working correctly for the last few hours. I will posted again if it starts to fail after a few days pass. Hope this helps someone.
Well I am back again. Thunderbird worked for 1 day with Norton vpn turned on. Now it does not work again. Tried Norton interactive support with no luck. Going to call Norton and talk to a human to see if that works.
Be sure when setting up the Tunnelling that you are adding the thunderbird.exe file to the tunnel. Not the first Thunderbird listing you see when trying to set up.
It is not just Thunderbird use that gets âblockedâ when using a VPN. The issue when using a VPN is the email provider sees an attempt to access your Account from a location they are not expecting. So to protect your Account they either block access or request additional verification it is you. You can contact your email provider to see if this is what is happening.
Thanks for your message. I doubled checked and I did use the correct Thunderbird.exe. I have tried all the things that have been suggested when I search the web but still no go. I am guessing that Nortonâs tunneling function has a bug in this latest release. For now I turn the vpn off when I check email and then back on after I am done with email.
I have the same 360 version and I use Thunderbird for my email client. I have set up the Split Tunnel to include Thunderbird and I have no issue sending and receiving my emails with the VPN enabled.
