Norton 360 "Setup not complete" error

I am running Windows Vista Service Pack 1 and installed Norton 360 version 2.  Once the install is completed, the icon appears in the system tray with a white "x" in a red circle over the icon.  When hovering the mouse over the icon, I get a message "Norton 360 configuration is not complete".  Nothing happens when I double click the icon.  If I right mouse the icon and click "Open Norton 360 in Main Window" nothing happens.  It will check for an update if I choose that options on the menu.  All other options are dimmed and cannot be chosen.  I cannot find anything in the support files that discusses this issue.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Lowell

You might be well advised to download and install the free update to N360 V3 and use the KEY for your existing V2 rather than work on installing the older version.

V3 is totally new and much faster and lightfooted compared with earlier versions since it uses the 2009 engines launched for NIS/NAV plus many other improvements.

New Norton 360 V3: Click on this link http://www.norton.com/n360

You will be redirected to the download site and you will probably get the yellow browser bar that wants to be certain you want to download. Click on it and then on the Download choice.

Then select Save rather than Run and a location on your computer you can find again.

Don't be put out when you see that the filename you are downloading is N360S200 -- I believe they never changed it!

Any questions?

Before actually installing the V3 that you download you need to clean up what may be a partial installation of N360 so go to this website and download the Norton Removal Tool -- note that if you have other Norton applications installed that it will remove all of them without any choices and when you run it and it has removed the installation, if it asks whether you want to go to the Norton site to download a new versions say NO since it may not be the latest of the N360 V3 files.

Just finish it off and then run the file you downloaded as above.

If you are in VISTA -- right mouse click on that file N360S200.exe and select Run as Administrator.
