Norton 360 Software Updater locked on wrong version of MS Edge, wants to reboot

My Norton 360 Software Updater told me yesterday that there was an update to Edge, ver 122.0.2365.63, but now its locked on that message, even though I upgraded to ver 122.0.2365.66 later in the day, when Microsoft resolved the issue with ver 122.0.2365.63. Now Norton 360 Software Updater is telling me to Restart the computer. I have multiple times, including a hard shutdown, but the message is still there. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I used the gear icon to remove Edge from the scan but big surprise it still shows up as wanting to restart. So I used the gear again to just inactivate software scan and not show up at all. Please let me know when the problem is resolved so I can turn it back on.

Can confirm, I'm having exactly the same problem. Mine is now stuck on saying restart required for Microsoft Edge to 122.0.2365.106 and since it's stuck there I cannot even rescan hoping to clear it nor just remove it from scanning. I have since manually updated Edge to version 123. When I did the restart via the "Restart Now" button on the Software Updater screen it just did a soft reboot but the restart required message is still there. I don't want to dick around with a hard reboot since the OP had a problem with that as well. I guess I just won't use software updater until this problem is resolved.

Thanks, I appreciate your help, unfortunately it didn’t do anything. After I re-enabled Software Updater, after a hard reboot, it came back up with the same stupid message about needing a restart. I’m stumped!

Sorry, I meant = disable Software Updater and don't use it.....just me.
So, you disabled Software Updater and Restarted (not Shut down) machine? w No joy.
And you cannot run Software Updater - Scan?
SU is stuck at Restart Now.
What does Finish do.  Just close SU window?

You're wanting to return Software Updater to useable state.

Maybe, try temporary disable Norton Product Tamper Protection and Restart (not Shut down) machine.

Hmm, be a pita reinstalling Norton for every Software Updater bork.
Maybe, after a day or two.  Software Updater will resolve itself?

can you manual add Edge to Excluded?

How can I do that?

~ disable Norton Software Updater?
My Norton => Settings gear => Software Updater =>

How can I do that?

There apparently was an issue with release 63 which replaced 59. This was withdrawn & 59 re-released. Yesterday, MS released version 66 effectively meaning version 63 is void. This  is another case of Norton Software updater getting it wrong. Not helped by MS, after problems with various MS updates thru' all products a few years ago, telling us there would be more stricter testing before any release, apparently not.

Can you disable Software Updater?

I can’t exclude it, it’s locked on wanting a restart.

Maybe, exclude Edge or disable Software Updater.
