Norton 360 UI needs to show current task status and allow pause or cancel

Issue abstract:

Periodically Norton process start consuming a lot of CPU with no way to find out why

Detailed description:

I have all my scans set to run between midnight and 4am, but sometimes, when my fan starts running at full speed, I look in the task manager and find that a Norton process is using excessive CPU. Most of the time the CPU usage is high, but there is very little filesystem activity. This is very annoying because it happens when I am using the computer.

If Norton 360 is not going to run during idle times or as scheduled this is a problem for me.

Solution:

In addition to letting me schedule all tasks, other than real-time protection, I would like to see a “Task Status: running xxxxx” on the application home screen. It should be prominent and at the top. It should also have a cancel or pause button so that I can stop it from interrupting my work.

Product & version number: Norton 360 26.1.10738 (build 26.1.10738.0)

OS details: Windows 10
