Norton 360 uistub.exe error

Hi guys,

A few days ago my dad started experiencing problems with his computer (which was built by me) when norton stopped working. I couldn’t do anything at the time as i was very busy so I told him I’d look into it, which I’m doing now but I’m lost as to want the problem is.

The computer spec is as follows;

Amd quad core phenom 2 black edition CPU
8gb ram
2x 500gb hard drives
Nvidia gyx280 gpu
Windows 7 home premium 64bit

What started to happen was that norton 360 would not open and it threw up this error message c:\program files (x86)\engine64\20.3.1.22\uistub.exe unspecified error.

Since I didn’t have chance to look at it for a few days it has now got to the point where is Internet wont work either (although showing connected to the wifi and ping commands show a connection and my devices are working fine)

Now when I try to open norton 360 it gives me this error and then a few minutes later a white box appears saying norton autofix and gives me and error code of 8504, 104. And tells me I should open the support website, which I’d do if the Internet on the machine was working.

So I’m at a loss as for what to do/try next, I’ve even tried uninstalling norton but for some reason it won’t allow me to uninstall the application.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi Nzascirinskis

Try restarting the computer?

Try resetting IE, go to the browser, click tools, click internet options, click advanced, click reset.  You might like to backup the favourites and anything else you have connected to IE as I don’t know if they will be deleted with a reset, then restart the computer.

If the above solves the internet problem, try running autofix by clicking the Norton icon, click support, click get support and let it run then restart the computer.

If the above doesn’t fix it then try removing Norton with the Norton remove and reinstall tool or the Norton removal tool.

Have you or have you ever had any other security software including any trial security software on the computer including Norton?

To uninstall any security software use the windows add/remove programme then restart the computer, then run the removal tool for the specific version of the security software that is available from the security software’s main site, then restart the computer.  This process should be done for each security software to be uninstalled, meaning one at a time.

Reinstall Norton, run live updates as many times as it takes to get, no more live updates, restarting as required.

You might like to backup your personal data and you’ll need to backup or export your identity safe and any other users identity safe if it is used, before doing the above.

Click the link below then choose the correct version of the removal tool for the Norton software.

Hi guys,

Unfortunately I cannot get online on the computer so I’m unable to download a new version of norton to reinstall it, it was bought as a download so I don’t have a disc for it :frowning:

Same goes for the removal tools, since I can’t get online I can’t download them :frowning:

Also going through the add/remove program feature in windows it will not allow me to remove norton, any further advice would be great.

Although the machine won’t connect to web pages it does work through a ping command, so it is defiantly connected.

Do you have a PC that you can use to download the NRT and the Fresh version of your product? If so, save these to a flash drive and take that to your dad's comuter.

Did you run a scan in Safe Mode?

Did you check for other security software?

Yes I do have a pc with Internet access, not sure why I didn't think of that haha.

as for safe mode it still won't work, and I can download a fresh copy of norton but how can I install it company dads pc won't let me uninstall the current version?

Also there is no other security software on the machine.

Try the NRT to see if it will uninstall.

if that does not work, you might want to post in the new Malware Discussion board, as you may have some infection blocking the uninstall.
