These 2 scans could not be stopped or cancelled by webpage doing the scan. Had 2 use task manager to stop. So, wasup????????????? Dell dim 9600, winXP home, sp3, IE8. 2nd yr running 360 no problems before.

How did you 'completely' uninstall 360? Using Windows control panel, or the Norton Removal Tool?
I'm not sure what the errors you mention are. Were they Norton errors or Windows errors?
What 'webpage' was doing the scan?

I got error from yr dwload saying, " it could not complete dwload, on same page it offered a another dwload from different webpage, it worked and I had N360. then the quick fix being stuck on sys 32 or sumother folder within Wins. I have liveupdated 2x's and still get the quick fix prob that never quicks.
I have uninstall and reinstall for 3rd time these are the steps I went:
Page I dwloaded N360: https://account.norton.com/amsweb/login.do?methodLogin=getLogin
The page asking for a quick scan is the page that shows all PC security, IDtheft protection, backup protection and PC tuneup. I'm now running live update. waiting for yr answer as 2 why Quick fix scan take 4ever and a day and never finishs?????? BTW, I did not get the page of N360 could not complete dwload this time.
What started everything off was a error code 8504,104.
Did you have any other security software installed on this PC before installing Norton? If so, what was it so we can help you find the uninstall utility.
This could be conflicting with your Norton installation.
I have been using Norton since '03 and unti y'all can fix the quick scan, I will be using AVG. The answer is NO. Bought N360 at Walmart in 2010. everything work fine. BTW, is this y'all's: N360-ESD-19-5-1-2EN.exe and it has a black ghost mask?
You still did not mention how you uninstalled 360. Was it with Windows control panel, or did you download the Norton Removal Tool.
Given your problems, the removal tool would be the way to go. When you reply, we can get you any additional instructions.
PS Now you have installed AVG, you will have to use their removal tool before installing another security program.
peterweb, just bought N360v6, having same prob. A quick fix sign saying have not been scanned 4 viruses. Get this, it had blocked 3x attacks by FB false survey 3 in less than 24 before, also threat by Trojan.ADH.2. Now quick fix and fix now had been running for 12 hrs and nothing fixed. did a reboot to stop these 2 scans. Dell 4600, IE8, WinXP home Prem, sp3. I always use Revo uninstaller, it gits 'er done!!!!!
If the scans are taking a very long time, it could indicate an issue with your hard drive.
To check your hard disk, click on the Windows Start button. In the search box type CMD. Right click on cmd.exe and click on run as administrator. In the command prompt type "chkdsk c: /r" without the quotes. A message will come up asking if you want to check the disk on the next restart. Answer 'Y'. Reboot and the check disk will run before Windows starts up. This check will check the file system as well as the physical disk surface. This scan can take a long time, depending on the size of your hard drive.
Let us know if this scan finds any errors.
Hi. I can't install the upgrade either. I've uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times, using the Norton Removal Tool and using the usual methods. It installed fine on my Win7-64 system. It won't install on my Win7-32 system. Any idea why? I get error 8504, 100.

Do you now or have you ever had another security program on your computer? If so, you will have to remove it with the removal tool for that program.
Have the same prob again. Quick scan not quick(same prob as before), everything else is normal and I removed N360 via Revo Quick shows that it has scanned 3206 items, next time 2835 items and it stuck for 3 hrs!!!!
My laptop no probs, 360 on it. .
Did you run the chkdsk I suggested above? Your slow scans can be a result of the scan trying to access a file that is in a bad sector of your hard drive.
I run ckdisc 1 or 2x a day. No real probs there!!! This is the only prob I have with Norton.

Do you run chkdsk with the '/F' option to check the physical disk surface for errors. Even a newer drive can be faulty.
Peterweb, I ran this: "chkdsk c: /r". There was no "F" opition. the scan came back clean!!!

Sorry, the 'R' option is what I meant.
Can you run a full system scan in safe mode? Do this with Norton and Malwarebytes.
If that does not work, I would suggest trying the Norton Removal Tool. I know you used Revo, but it is worth a try.
Downloading from your Norton Account will now get you the 2013 version. I think we should start with the V6 (2012).
Download the Norton Removal Tool from here www.norton.com/nrt
Download a fresh copy of 360 from www.norton.com/n360s_6 for Standard, or www.norton.com/n360p_6 for Premium.
If you use Identity Safe, backup/export your data.
Uninstall your Norton product with Windows control panel.
Reboot.
Run the Norton Removal Tool.
Reboot.
Run the 360 installer.
Run LiveUpdate manually a few times, rebooting as necessary, until no updates are available.
Import your Identity Safe data.
Let us know if you get anywhere.
