Norton 360 Update Error - 1406

I keep getting this error:

==============

Product: Norton Update Helper -- Error 1406. Could not write value MsiStubRun to key \SOFTWARE\Norton\Browser\Update.  System error .  Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.

==============

Fairly recent install of N360 on W11 Home with the latest updates, 23H2, OS Build 22631.3527

I am running as Administrator.

Not sure which you were looking for?

I can't even find the one in the error I think?

The ones even close are these:

=============

Is not that error pointing to the Registry though?

No, I am NOT running the Private Browser, but I did install it, try it, and then deleted it.

Curious, was there a related \AppData\ folder?

OK, I did disable the setting. A work-around though is not a fix or fully solve the problem.

Since my PC was on for over and hour, I did get the error again.

I also ran Live Update and nothing was performed or needed. So it was working fine I assume?

Hello. This is an issue that has returned more than once with Norton products. As a possible workaround. Temporarily disable tamper protection then run live updates manually.

Thanks for the quick response.

No, I am NOT running the Private Browser, but I did install it, try it, and then deleted it.

I did see the 2nd referenced link, and didn't think removing the Norton File(s) protection was a wise thing to do.

Ran the Autofix, no problems found:

I tried LiveUpdate yesterday and it worked. Didn't do anything though?

PC is shutdown every night. The night before it was not though. The days before this, they all looked like this in the Reliability Viewer Warning section. Starts 1 hr after boot and repeats every hour:

x.jpgPC has not been on for an hour yet, too soon to see it for today.

Fast Startup is not enabled, C: is an SSD and it isn't needed. Does not even show or be seen in the Power settings as Hybernate is also disabled.

Are you running Norton Secure/Private Browser?

Please run Norton LiveUpdate and Restart (not Shut down) machine. Repeat.

Be sure you are using the Restart command. Not Shut down and startup again if you have Windows Fast Startup feature enabled. If you use Windows 8/8.1, 10 or 11, there can be an issue with the Windows Fast Startup feature.. See more information here. (credit peterweb)
