hi jazzzbo - i think this document will help with the expiration problem on your XP partition:
http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/cs/kbload.jsp?docurl=step_symlmts&selected_nav=2&prev_id=subscriptions_001&prev_link=link_01
on the backup problem, i'm curious about the size of the N360_BACKUP folder. the hashing encryption format for V2 backup as been lamented elsewhere, but if the folder appears to be using GB of space, i'd guess that it's just a matter of the selections within the Restore options. what items are available from categories in the Files to Restore - i'd imagine that one of those would show 13,000+ files.

Thanks - I got the expuation problem resolved.
Drive M> is my external backup drive. Ike N360 V2 Backup Diretory is 129 GB
The recovery pane, under Files to Restore, says I have 12 music files, one document, and one email file. for a total space of 1MB. I can recover all of these files, but nothing more.
As stated earlier, I can see thousands of (apparently encrypted) files in the N360_BACKUP folders, but can't restore them. What else can I do?
Thanks again,
Jim Berglund
hi jazzzbo - okay, i think i get it now. it sounds like maybe the backup pointer isn't pointing to your M drive. in the Restore Now window, click on the Change button on the Restore From line. navigate to the M drive and see if you can pick it up that way. i apologize in advance if you already tried this - i wasn't certain after reviewing this thread. because if that doesn't work, we're going to need professional help.

No Joy! I guess I'm stuck.
Has anyone been successful at resolving this issue?
Jim Berglund
For your backup issue, on which OS did you create the backup of the mp3s? Were you trying to restore with the installed Norton 360 on the other OS? When you mention “no luck” with trying Mel’s suggestion, what exactly do you see? Any additional information you can provide is appreciated. Thanks!
The problem is fixed. I have been working with one of the N360 developers and after several attempts, we were able to recover all the files, using a tool that restores them file by file.
Thanks, everyone for your interest and suggestions.
