These questions concern Norton 360 V4 and V5. They existed with V4 and I upgraded to V5 with no change in the results.
I have two separate PCs - one with XP Home and one with XP Professional. Same results with both.
My problems are with adding folders and files to a Backup Set. I don't know if they are problems or just that I don't understand what is supposed to happen.
As an example for discussion: -- I want to back my entire Program Files folder including all files and sub folders.
1. The basic question is -- "Should I be able to include files to a Backup Set simply by including only the folder that contains the files or must I include one file at a time?" The same question holds for adding sub-folders?
I created a Bakckup Set of just the Program Files Folder. I have 94 1st level Sub-folders in my Program Files Folder and gazillion files. When I include the Program Files folder, I would expect to have every thing, but I only get 5 folders and they are not the first ones at the top of the alphabet. After running a Backup of this Backup Set, the Preview only shows the Program Files folder. The result says sucessful but 0 files added. However, the Norton Backup Drive shows the 5 Sub-Folders and files. The Overlay Status for the files show the Green Check. I viewed files in many Sub-folders other than the previously mentioned Folders and many have Blue Arrow Overlay Status while the files is some other folders have no Overlay Status. No matter how often I run a backup of the Set, nothing changes.
It takes forever to add a file at a time and forever and ever and ever to back up the entire Program Files folder a file at a time.
2. The next problem is trying to add folders and files to a Backup Set with the Explorer Right Click method. I can't get it to always work. Sometimes I get the Blue overlay on the files that I am including that are within a folder, and sometimes I don't. Whether I get the Blue Overlay Status or not, the folder/file is not added to the Backup set. I save the settings and I Run Backup on the Backup Set and it still isn't added. After running Backup on the Backup Set, it reports 0 new files added.
Can anyone help, if help is what is I need; or just tell me it is working as it should and that my expections are all wrong?
