Bear in mind that Norton 360 v2 predates IE8 by quite a period of time.

Norton, and most other people, don't offer support for betas until they have worked their way through to the Release stage. I would say that would particularly apply to things like toolbar buttons -- doesn't necessarily mean that the Norton product is not protecting you but just that things that have to interact may not.

Yes, I perceived Norton 360 wouldn't work on Internet Explorer 8 beta 2. Should I uninstall Internet Explorer 8 beta 2 or should I wait it out until Norton 360 provides support?

I don't use the toolbar, but I would like a full functioning browser.

It's your call. Perhaps I should have asked what buttons you are referring to on IE8B2? My reaction when I replied was that you meant a N360 button like the AntiSpam one it can add to Outlook Express or a Norton Toolbar where there are other ways of accessing the functions. But if you mean that something stops working on IE8B2 itself I can see you would not want to continue.

Is there anything in IE8 that is not in in IE7 that you really need before IE8 is released? BTW I have IE8B1 on my laptop but don't use the laptop all that much (why I put IE8 there <g>) so I can't recall what might be missing.

For me the addition of TABs in IE7 was the big step forward and I would not want to do without them.

Hang on for a possible reply from a Norton Staffer (names in red) who may value your experience for further investigation.

The buttons are Identity Safe, Phishing Protection on, and Log-ins.

Hello Jeremiah,

Internet Explorer 8 is not yet supported due to the fact that it's still in beta. We will do our best to support the browser during its beta phase. However, you may have these types of glitches until Internet Explorer 8 is released. This is simply due to the code constantly changing in the beta software. We will not be able to support it until the code stops changing.

Thanks for your patience!

Those are from N360 aren't they? (I'm using NIS2009 at the moment so I can't check) So if they are on the Norton Toolbar you could just tell IE8 not to show it?

See Tim Lopez's message too.
