Norton 360 Version 20.1.1.2

I upgraded Norton 360 Version 6.4.0.9 to the new version 20.1.1.2 but the Norton icon  disappeared after upgrade and reboot. I contacted support; automated support advised me to download, install the removal tool, and remove and reinstall Norton from my account. I did all that, but there still is no Norton icon on desktop. I ran Liveupdate several times and rebooted each time, but to no success. I ran autofix which did not find any issue with installation, no Norton icon on desktop. I now open Norton by Norton icon in the notification area. I don't like to have the same uninstall and reinstall advice but need a firm solution. How can I go back to the previous version if Symantec doesn't come up with a solution? My Norton account has the latest download only.

Also, the desktop shortcut has been removed from the Norton 2013 products.

I am referring not to the gadget but to the shortcut icon on desktop, which opens Norton's main menu.

I uninstalled norton 360 version 20.1.1.2 trough control panel, then used norton removal tool, then downloaded the older version I had before version .6.4.0.9, working fine since Thursday 10/11/2012, have left the computer on , no pop ups on frame work problems, live update is also working fine, will stay with this version until norton gets the bugs out of 20.1.1.2

would still be nice to get a refund on my $52.00 I had to pay for a new activation key:smileyvery-happy:

Downloading from your Norton Account will now get you the 2013 version. I think we should start with the V6 (2012).

Download the Norton Removal Tool from here   www.norton.com/nrt

Download a fresh copy of 360  from  www.norton.com/n360s_6 for Standard, or www.norton.com/n360p_6 for Premium.
If you use Identity Safe, backup/export your data.
Uninstall your Norton product with Windows control panel.
Reboot.
Run the Norton Removal Tool.
Reboot.
Run the 360 installer.
Run LiveUpdate manually a few times, rebooting as necessary, until no updates are available.
Import your Identity Safe data.

Let us know if you get anywhere.

The shortcut is also removed (it's by design), but you can copy it back to desktop from the start menu or from the start screen in win8. Please see the link in my previous reply.
