I currently have Norton 360 6.0 on my computer. I also use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware as well as a backup Malware scanner to double check any files I download or incase I suspect I may have an infection that Norton has failed to notice, like a lot of members on here and on other forums have advised to do.
However, a week or so ago Norton informed me I could update to Norton 360 2013 but it said there was a conflict with Malwarebytes, something no previous versions of Norton 360 have informed me about.
Now I know from researching this problem isn't just limited to Norton 360 and is affecting those using Norton Internet Security too. I have two questions:
1) Since I'm using the free version of Malwarebytes with no real-time scanning and I only use it as an On Demand scanner, in theory there shouldn't actually be any conflict should there? Would it then be ok to update Norton and continue using Malwarebytes whenever I feel the need to?
2) If I don't update to the latest version of Norton and decide to keep using 6.0 until there is some resolution, will my computer be safe? I understand it won't have the new features and some of the new things like that but as long as the virus/malware definitions keep updating, should it still work as it should do? Will 6.0 recieve all the Liveupdates that the latest version of Norton 360 gets?
Thanks for any help.

Hi Cupcake,
You would be perfectly fine to update your Norton 360 and continue using Malwarebytes Free Scanner. When you run Malwarebytes for on-demand scans, there is no visible conflict warning that I ever received. I use Norton Internet Security and the only time you see a conflict warning, is when running Norton Autofix .. Support > Get Support.
See screenshots below. When running Autofix, it will detect Malwarebytes as an incompatible program. Just click the Skip link to let it finish it's scan. I run Malwarebytes Free Scanner weekly without incident.
If you decide to stay with your current version of 360, you will still receive updates without fail. It's best to stay current with Norton if possible.
Ed
When running Autofix, click the Skip link, to let it continue.
The completed Autofix scan, after skipping Malwarebytes.
Thankyou.
I actually spoke to a Norton Support person last night who advised me there is no conflict also between the free version of Malwarebytes and Norton 360, it’s just an error and they are currently working on an update so that in future it doesn’t list the free version as a conflicting program so I’m going to update my Norton as soon as possible
Thankyou for your reply too!

Hi Cupcake,
Glad to hear that everything has worked out.
Best of luck with your new updated version of Norton 360 and Malwarebytes.
