Norton 360 w/Lifelock Observations

I have been a Norton user - off & on - since around 1993/94. Mostly on. I had a few temper tantrums through the years and tried other products, but I always come home. The core of the software, anti-virus & firewall, is probably as solid as anything out there. Online back-up seems improved, or maybe it's just my new internet provider. I am very pleased with the product's central features & performance.

Right now, the product is, unhappily, pretty rough around the edges. All the peripheral stuff seems not quite finished.

  • VPN - does not stay on
  • Password manager is the clunkiest such software I have seen even though it has been around for quite some time. Compare it to Last Pass, or even the simple feature in the Edge browser ... so much more unobtrusive & user friendly
  • Lifelock - this is supposed to protect one's identity & warn the user about unauthorized and/or suspicious use. Recently, I had a $1500 charge on my bank debit card that was unauthorized. It was showing as a charge from Madrid, Spain. Not a peep from Lifelock. Thankfully, my bank successfully reversed the charge.  I check my accounts on a daily basis, so I discovered it quickly, but my confidence in the Lifelock feature was shaken.

I love the idea of a all-in-one security suite, but 360 needs some fine-tuning - especially at the price. Don't make me throw another tantrum! :-)

Thanks, PerterWeb, for the response. I was just making some comments, Not necessarily looking for support.

I knew that about the VPN. Just don't like it. :-) Password manager is free, yes. I have used it alone and I currently am using Last Pass with Norton 360 installed. I just don't see why Norton would be content with offering a lacklustre product. I use the free version of Last Pass ... much better. As for LifeLock, I cannot tell what level I am using. Best I can tell it's 'Select.' It says LifeLock is monitoring my credit cards on the dark web. The page also says that I am 'protected,' yet on the same page it says I need to install Norton to receive protection. I have Norton installed. In any event, I don't see how I am benefitting from having Lifelock.

Another feature I forgot to mention that doesn't work for me is Bank Protection. The text overlaps when I try to use it on my bank's site and I can not click to see my account transactions. There was a feedback option to request service for my bank, so I'll see how that goes.

This is by design. Most users do not like this and we were told there may be more control in the future, soon after the VPN feature was added to 360. Still waiting for this.

I use an alternative password manager. But you have not lost any money as there is no charge to use Norton Password Manager. You can use it even if you have no other Norton product on your system.

This depends on what level of LifeLock subscription you have. You need the Advantage or Ultimate Plus to get the credit card monitoring. See the services offered by each level of Norton 360 with LifeLock here. If you have one of those levels, did you register your credit card numbers when you set up your LifeLock subscription?
