Norton 360 Will Not Maximize

When I open Norton 360, either from programs or quick launch (Windows Vista Home Premium), it goes to the task bar.  You cannot maximize it from the task bar - if you right click on it there is a minimize option but no maximize - if you left click on it nothing happens - click on restore and nothing happens.

 

You can go to task manager, right click on it and maximize it from there.  What can be wrong?  Any help appreciated.

Good Morning:  The Norton is a new install on a freshly installed operating system (Vista Home Premium).  I did not have Norton to begin with (had used it on other systems for years) on this system.  Before I installed Norton I did a clean install of the operating system.  I have added all the updates to Windows and to Norton.

 

I had this problem with Mcafee a couple of years ago and we uninstalled and reinstalled but never did find out what the problem was.  I do not know of anything I have on the system that conflicts with Norton and every test I use comes up clean. 

 

Am I the only one that has this?

Conflict in security software can be the cause of various issues even if the security software has been uninstalled the debris left on the system may not have caused problems until a Norton update has been installed.

 

Have you or have you ever had any other security software including any trial security software on the computer including Norton?  If so, what is it?  

Can you check in windows add/remove programmes, programme data and programme files for any security software that may have been bundled in a download?

 

What trial security software came with the computer?

I had the exact same symptom on my WIndows 7 (x64) Desktop PC the next morning after this week's Windows updates installed.  I couldn't max the Norton (360) Console. I restarted my PC and it worked ok.

 

I hope your issue is as easy to resolve.  I do know that I've read some things the last couple of days that seem to have been affected by the recent Windows updates.
