Norton 360 will not open and I can't access the internet

Hi, hoping I can get little help with getting my Norton 360 working.

I wanted to run some scans on my laptop today but couldn't open Norton 360. Autofix kicked in and stated there was an error 8504, 100 which it was unable to fix. I was redirected to the web support page where I was told to uninstall and reinstall. I did this the first time and when I tried to access the internet (Google Chrome) it would not work, which it suggested was due to antivirus or firewall settings. I tried to go on to Norton 360 to try and configure this but again it would not open. I then again uninstalled and reinstalled Norton 360 but this did not help as I still could not access the internet or open Norton 360.

Could anyone please tell me what I should do from here to get Norton 360 working. Right now I have uninstalled Norton 360, just so I can use the internet but I am worried about not having the antivirus software on right now. I have tried to get through to the support team but have not been successful. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Do you now, or have you ever had any other security software installed on this computer? If so, this could be conflicting with Norton unless you use the uninstall utility for that software.

Hi, thanks for responding.... No, I've only ever used Norton for my laptop and that has been for 4 years. I have never experienced a problem like this before.

I am going to suggest a second opinion scan using the free version of Malwarebytes.

You can find it here   http://mbo.origin.mb-internal.com/products/malwarebytes_free/

Let us know what it finds.

There was found to be no malware on my computer. Is there anything else I can do to get Norton 360 to load up again?

After a few removals and reinstalls of N 360, and since you currently have it removed, I would suggest you download and  run the Norton Removal Tool found here:  https://www-secure.symantec.com/norton-support/jsp/help-solutions.jsp?docid=20080710133834EN&product=home&pvid=f-home&version=1&lg=english&ct=us

After it completes, reboot, then go here and download the one you have a license for:

www.norton.com/n360s_6 (Standard Edition)

               or

www.norton.com/n360p_6 (Premiere Edition)

When the install completes, run LiveUpdate (rebooting as requested) until it responds "no updates found".

Also if you can open N 360, but still can not connect in Chrome, please try another browser (FF or IE).

Let us know what you got.
