I have a Lenovo G780 laptop which came with Windows 7 Home Premium & a 1 month subscription to Mcafee Virus. Now I have posted on here before on the same issue, but here is a new scenerio to my problem. After I couldn't Norton 360 to load before (about a year ago) I bought Kaspersky and used that. But, really didn't like it and I updated my Laptop to Windows 8. Then I uninstalled Kaspersky and tried to reinstall Norton 360 - Guess what - It worked super & great. No problems what so ever. But, I was having problems over time and used the Lenovo Recovery disks and put my PC back to factory like it was when I first got it. You remember Windows 7 and Macafee - so I tried to download Norton 360 again - got same error message and Norton will not run. Something must be running on the Lenovo side which messes up Norton - Any Helps!!'
I have followed every step people have asked me to do - NRT & safe boot etc - NOTHING! Help Dave

Yes I did all the removers from Norton - No Luck.....I just got done removing a program on here called INSTANT RESEST - under programs, under the Lenovo Program. I see no Rapid Boost in my control panel. I unistalled the INSTANT RESET - and Norton appeared to be working....but I had another problem surface - kept getting GROUP POLICY error not running and then some windows wouldnt install. So - I am back to square one. I reinstalled back again - wiped everything off my and have Mcafee back on here. Gonna try and find another Security Program to use - this sucks Dave

You say you did the removers from Norton. What about the McAfee removal tool? Did you follow the link in Krusty13's post to find that.
If you have not removed McAfee it is not the fault of Norton's installer. Norton would do the same if it were the other way around. It would be protecting itself from possible conflicts and stop other security programs from trying to install.
I hope I can offer some useful information. My laptop is about a month old. A Norton tech removed my Instant Reset for me since there was a conflict between the preinstalled McAfee and the Norton program I wanted to install. When they removed it, I did lose the few programs I had installed such as MicroSoft Office. However, I did not have to treat my laptop as if it came out of the box. I didn't have to set up a password again. The Norton tech said he believed there was no way around losing programs if IR was disabled.
If no one on this board can help, try contacting Lenovo support.
This may or may not help - but perhaps a suggestion for addtional assistance?
