Norton 360 won't open and other applications won't open

I recently purchased Norton 360 and installed it on my laptop running on Windows 7.

Following the instructions, it was suggested to remove two other antivirus programs like McAfee and Trend for compatibility issues, but I skipped the step and didn't delete them. After the whole installation I restarted the computer.

After I restarted the computer, I tried to open Google Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer but they wouldn't open. Then, I tried to open the program from my Start screen but it also wouldn't open.

So, I opened my control panel and deleted the 2 antivirus programs that were originally suggested to be removed and restarted the computer again.

Again, I tried to open the 3 internet programs and they wouldn't open. Then I tried to open Norton 360 from the start window and it wouldn't open again.

The only programs I can access are the file folders on my computer.

Norton 360 "Get Support" and "LiveUpdate" do not open either!

Help!

Hi alsdmsrud

You nee to run the specific removal tool for the security software you had on the system you can download it from the security software’s main website, then restart the computer.  Do one removal at a time then restart.  You might like to backup your  personal data first.

Here are the links to the removal information you will need:

http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS101331

http://esupport.trendmicro.com/Pages/How-do-I-remove-old-or-new-versions-of-Trend-Micro-products-in-my-comp.aspx

As intesec states, do one then reboot and then do the other followed by a reboot.

If  N 360 still does not run properly, let us know what has changed and also let us know if you are running N 360 Standard Edition or N 360 Premiere Edition, so we can guide you to a corrective action for your product.

Thanks for the advice.

I've done as instructed and nothing has changed.

I purchased the Norton 360 Standard.

Hi,

If you use Norton Identity Safe please export a copy to somewhere you can find it.

Now you have cleaned up the other programs I'd recommend downloading and running the Norton Remove & Reinstall Tool.

Do you have any other security programs installed?  You should only ever have one real-time secuirty program running on your system.

Have you ever had any other security programs installed including any trials you may of had?  These need to be uninstalled by their removal tools as well.

Thanks,

Dave
