Norton 360 won't start with Lenovo Thinkpad

I am having exactly the same problem with a Lenovo Thinkpad T420.  How do I fix this issue without returning to factory Lenovo settings?

Hi,

Im having the same problem with Norton 360. I tried uninstalling with Norton Removal Tool and re-installing several times. But when I turn off the computer and then turn it on it doesnt work. When I click LiveUpdate and restart my laptop it doesnt work. It freezes, wont open and doesnt work so I dont have any protection. Please I dont want to send my laptop to Lenovo factory too. (I have Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E520)

I also ran a full scan by Malwarebytes and nothing was found.

How did you remove the  • Norton ® Internet Security (30-day trial)  that comes preinstalled? "The same problem" doesn't tell us much since perhaps you were spun off an existing thread. Would you tell us what you were actually doing and how.

Hi everyone,

If someone who has this problem will go to Programs & Features and uninstall Rapidboot (not sure if it is one or two words) and report back to us what happens with N 360 it would be greatlty appreciated.

This "fix" was suggested with Norton Security Suite ( COmcast version of N 360) on a Lenovo sytem.

Looks like this might be the answer. I have a Thinkpad T520 and had the problem described in this thread with both Norton 360 v5 and v6. Tried uninstall, Power Eraser, reinstall at least 3 or 4 times. Each time Norton would appear to install correctly but after running Live Update and doing a restart Norton would not reopen. Uninstalled Rapidboot and reinstalled Norton. Have since rebooted twice (including after running Live Update) and Norton seems to work OK. However Win 7 definitely takes longer to boot than it did before. One step, forward, one step back...
