Norton acts like a virus

Sick of this garbage bloatware.  trying to sell me the latest modules interrupting my workflow.  finally slowed my computer down to a crawl until I attempted to uninstall, only to find nortons newest hack is to provide only an "uninstall/reinstall" package that upon every restart wants to reinstall this trash back onto my computer.   JUST LIKE A VIRUS.    Spare me the basic simpleton user experiences who wouldnt know if their computer was on fire or not, this is nothing like the simple, user friendly software it used to be.   As it scans for viruses that havent been seen in over 30 years in its liveupdate module... just ridiculous and as a business,, we arent happy with it at all.

If you want a security program that you can micro-manage down to the smallest detail and control every aspect of, then Norton is probably not for you.

You might like a product that has good HIPS.

Don't we all ... ?

Sorry, as Oscar Wilde said "I can resist anything except temptation..."

This product has no right to make it so that i cant diable it, There is absolutly no reason why a program should have more control over my computer than me. I dont want to hear any bs about it being safer because no virus is physically going to go into Msconfig and turn norton off using my mouse. I want to disable this program from every being able to run without my permision how do i do that?

What feature do you need to turn off that is bothering you so much?

Individual features can be turned off temporarily, and some features can be disabled in Settings.

1) Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool => Advanced Options => Remove Only => Remove => Restart

OR

1) Apps & features => Norton 360 => Uninstall => Uninstall Norton and remove all my user data => Restart

2) clear out Norton remnants

Be sure you are using the Restart command. Not Shut down and startup again if you have Windows Fast Startup feature enabled. If you use Windows 8/8.1, 10 or 11, there can be an issue with the Windows Fast Startup feature.. See more information here. (credit peterweb)
Turn On or Off Fast Startup - W10 - W11

Note: Norton browser extensions are separate installs.
