Does Norton Anti Theft work on a cell phone when the cell phone WiFi and GPS are turned off? If not is there a way to turn them on without the phone in hand? Which uses less battery power WiFi or GPS when cell phone power is off Which uses less battery power WiFi or GPS when the cell phone power is on.
1. Since I have already bought Norton Anti-Theft I dont want to buy additional software. I recall some time ago perhaps a year ago, I put a free Norton product on my cell phone but the only part that worked (Based on what the software said dont know if it was actually working) was the anti virus and the software it said if I wanted the locator part to work I had to purchase the serial number etc. I took it off my phone and dont remember the name of the software, whether this was the Norton Mobile Security Lite or some other product.
That is why I was wondering that Norton Mobile Security has that is not included in the free Norton Mobile Security Lite, what Norton Mobile Security has (other then the virus checker which I dont need to pay for as there are numerous free ones out there) that is not included in Norton Anti Theft, and how Norton Mobile Security Lite compares with Norton Mobile Security Lite.
For example does the free Norton Mobile Security Lite have the ability to locate a phone, lock a phone, and/or take pictures of the thief
2. Regarding GPS and WiFi, I had heard think it was mentioned in the instructions for my cell phone that WiFi and GPS are battery drainers, so that they should only be turned on when using them, that is why I asked the question. The question regarding comparison between the WiFi (which is for internet) an GPS (which is for directions) is because in the Norton Anti-Theft set up they asked which one I want turned on. Thus I was wondering if the locator and other parts of of Norton Anti Theft works if both were turned off, whether there is any way to turn them on after the phone is stolen, and If they both use equal battery power when on but not being used then the question is comparison between the WiFi (which is for internet) an GPS (which is for directions) in locator accuracy and privacy.
I do note that when I turned WiFi on on the cell phone and also had it on a netbook in the same room both using the same Wifi that Norton Anti Theft was inaccurate as to the cellphone and more accurate (but still not the correct address) on the netbook
PS. The reason for the dublicate posts which have apparently been removed is that I initially posted in Anti Theft section but do to there being so many posts pinned to the top I was under the impression that my post had not been posted, then for unknown reasons the posting part of the AntiTheft section web site did not show up, so I posted the question on the Mobile Security site only to later see the posting part of the anti theft section showing up. After I saw there were dublicate posts I sought to delete the duplicate post but could not find any way to delete a post.

Norton Anti Theft does work on an Android phone if you go to Google Play you will find the app there. However if you want some Norton protection on an Android phone I would recommend that instead of Norton Anti Theft (NAT) you try out Norton Mobile Security (NMS) which is more uptodate and does all that Anti Theft does and more. There is a free (Lite) version available on Google Play so that you can try it.

I will now try to answer your questions in relation to NMS (which has its own forum). It does work even if WiFi and GPS are off. However it works better with GPS enabled (this gives little battery drain when it is not actively being used).
I do not understand your question asking for a comparison of WiFi and GPS as they do completely different things.
And in relation to another post you made about a thief uninstalling NAT/NMS. If you set up NMS fully and it locks the phone then it would be very hard for a thief to unlock the phone and remove it. I would not say that it would be impossible that is a bit like saying - never.. ;-)
I hope the above helps
In response to your question about what NMS Lite does - let me quote what it says about the app on Google Play (which I assume you have seen)
Quote:
FEATURES (LITE VERSION)
• Find your lost phone or tablet on a map with remote locate
• Protect multiple Android phones and tablets
• Lock your device via SMS text command
• Control security for all your devices through one website
• Scan and remove apps and app updates that have the potential to harm or slow down your device
• Scan SD cards for threats when they're plugged into your device
• Spot new threats faster with collective information volunteered by millions of Norton users
Unquote.
And regarding WiFi and GPS.
You may have heard that WiFi and GPS use the battery. That is undoubtedly correct. I believe that WiFi when active can take a fair amount of power and most people turn it off when not needed. As for GPS, again I believe it can take a moderate amount of power when it is working but just making it active (i.e. without any app using it) does not seem to take much if any power as far as I have detected with any of the devices I have used. Consequently I leave GPS activated so that any app such as NMS can use it when it needs to. I think most people assume that if someone takes your phone and gets into a WiFi area then they are likely to turn the WiFi on and NMS could then use it.
I believe that NMS can use mobile signals, WiFi and GPS to locate you though in the first two cases, just how well will probably depend on where in the world you are. GPS should give you a good fix provided that GPS is active and it can see the satellites (i.e. is not in a basement somewhere).
I hope the above helps.
