Norton Anti_Virus Renewal

I have Norton Anti-Virus installed on my computer, which is running Windows XP. A few weeks ago, a screen popped up notifying me that I needed to renew, and a red exclamation mark appeared in the Norton item on the Start bar at the bottom of the screen. I put off renewing until I had more time to deal with it. About a week later, while I was working on-line a screen from Symantec pops telling me that it’s time for renewal and that this renewal can be automatic since Symantec has my credit card info on file. I indicated that I would like to renew automatically and was informed that automatic renewal had taken place. However, the installation on my computer still shows the red exclamation point and pops up a screen telling me that my subscription must be verified. When I indicate that I want it renewed, I’m sent to the Symatec store where it wants credit card info, etc. At that point I cancel because I am under the impression that I’ve already renewed. I don’t recall which credit card I originally used. It’s possible that I used one that has expired, so that info on file is no longer valid. However, I have not been notified that this is the case. The bottom line is that I want to renew my subscription, but I don’t want to be double billed. What should I do to ensure that this happens?
