Norton Antivirus & Microsoft security software

Will any of these interfere with NA '07 (My OS's are Win. Vista 32-bit & 7 64-bit):

Microsoft RegClean

Rootkit Revealer

Microsoft Debugging Tool

Windows Defender

Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool

Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer

Microsoft Security Essentials

Any on demand software is OK to use with NAV.

From your list, Microsoft Security Essentials needs to be fully uninstalled. Windows Defender needs to have the anti virus function disabled to work with your NAV. If you use NIS or N360 you would also disable the firewall funtion. These programs use real time resident scanners that will conflict with Norton products.

The others should be OK.

Edit

AP,

Are you still using the 5 year old  NA '07 ? Does it even work under Windows 7 64 bit?

You may be entitiled to a free upgrade to the current version NA 2012 although I'm not absolutely sure if that begins from 2006 or 2008 --- 2006 I think.

Malware has changed so much since 2007 that even if you are getting 2012 definition downloads you are not going to be well protected without the newer techniques that security applications use nowadays.

If the cost is a problem check the weekend flyers of computer stores and reputable online sources like Amazon and you can save a lot of money.
