Norton App Lock (Android) no longer locking system settings on note 10+ (2)

This was posted back in February 2020:

"I've been using Norton App Lock on.my smartphone for years as a way protect my system settings menus. I recently upgraded from a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 to a Note 10+. On the new phone, the lock doesn't work correctly on system settings. When I open settings, the password prompt shows up for a second, then the the system settings appear on top, allowing full access to all my settings. When I colse settings, THEN app lock appears looking for a password. How do I fix this?"

This is an ongoing issue, and for some stupid reason, the thread was closed.

I am also having this issue, where instead of my apps being locked with an image of the pattern unlock or the fingerprint sensor, the screen darkens and a fingerprint shows with a cancel button above it. By clicking "cancel", I am allowed full access to the app. Not particularly useful when I'm accessing the settings app.

Someone suggested Samsung's software possibly being the issue, but if that were the case, would it not do the same on every app?

Let's find a solution to this issue WITHOUT closing the thread beforehand.

Thanks in advance,

D

For reference, below is what appears when I tap on Settings:

Nice!

Thanks for the help.

I have heard from my contacts. They have been able to duplicate the issue. Here is what we have been told.

It seems that Android 10 might have put Setting’s UI on higher priority without allowing any other floating window showing above it. We’ll need more time to investigation potential mitigation on this Settings behavior change.

I'll let you know when I hear anything more.

I have reported this to my Norton contacts. I'll let you know what I hear.

Thank you for replying.

I am running Android version 10, I imagine this helps a little more.

As for which apps this applies to, after locking all my apps and trying them, it seems to only affect Settings, even if you go to recent apps and select App Info.  Weird.

One other question.

Does this affect all protected apps, or just the Settings?

I take it this is the thread you are referring to.    https://community.norton.com/en/forums/norton-app-lock-android-no-longer-locking-system-settings-note-10      The forum software automatically locks threads with no posts for 30 days. This is to keep any thread content current. Otherwise, a user can search for an issue and find a thread that can be 2 years old. Any information in that thread may no longer be valid due to software updates that resolved that specific issue.  In the above thread, the original poster never replied, so there was no diagnosis or any information to pass on to Norton about the issue.

Your post gives more detail about the issue you are seeing. My comment on Samsung's proprietary changes to the OS does not necessarily mean that the same issue would be seen for all apps. Different developers can use different processes to provide the same features. Their code is also proprietary.

So I'll start by asking you the same questions I asked the other user.

Confirm your device is also the  note 10+ (2)?

And what Android version is on your device?
