Norton asks me to connect to a secure server for help

I had an issue today that required me to uninstall and reinstall.  There was a minor issue and, using another computer, a chat assistant help box asked me to provide phone number for support.  I received a call and they asked me to connect to iexplorere www.support12345.com.  The tech explained it was a secure server to diagnose my computer.

Is this legitimate?  I didn't do it.

You were right in not to connect to that website. That is not a legitimate Symantec support site.

We off chat assistance pop ups only on www.norton.com and only for sales and renewals. Did you get a case number? If so you could contact our support with that case number or post it here and we can / could look into it.
