Common connectivity issues that can interfere with Norton Autofix ›

Your device must be connected to the Internet to use Norton Autofix. Here are a few checks that help you restore your connection:

  • Verify that your network cable is connected.

  • Verify that your wireless settings are correct.

  • Verify that your network adapter is correctly configured.

  • Verify that your DSL or cable modem is connected.

  • Check and ensure that parental controls do not block the Internet connection.

  • Ensure that the Network Cost Awareness option is not set to No Traffic. For more information, see Define the Internet usage for Norton

  • Ensure Norton Firewall settings are enabled to allow traffic. For more information, see Turn Norton Firewall on or off

  • If your network uses proxy servers to connect to Internet, LiveUpdate uses the proxy settings in your product to download the latest updates. You can use the Network Proxy Settings option in the Administrative Settings window to configure the proxy settings of your network.

Other issues that often cause Autofix problems ›

  • Free enough disk space on the drive that has your Norton product.

  • Ensure that your device's date and time is correct.

  • Check if the Apply updates only on reboot option is set to on. This is applicable only for devices running Windows 7 or later.

I never had Internet Connectivity failed before, this is the first time I've seen it. I run Autofix every couple of months just to make sure things are working ok.

This is what my Diagnostic Report says; 2 things came up orange while everything else was ok.

GiBibby2:

I can create a Diagnostic Report, should I post the whole thing or a specific section to look at?

Diagnostic Report all green?
Diagnostic Report any section - not green?

it's been awhile since I've touched W7SP1

Wired?/WiFi?

Have you had...Internet Connectivity :: Failed ...before?
Did you initially run Autofix for a reason?

I did try restarting my computer, but nothing changed it still says failed to fix. I did a LiveUpdate which did an update, and a QuickScan where everything was fine. Didn't change anything. I don't have the VPN on during this either. I'm on Windows 7.

Autofix had this in the clipboard:

    Norton 360
    22.24.5.6
    Windows 7 Home Premium
    7601.24545.amd64fre.win7sp1_ldr_escrow.200102-1707
    Norton Autofix Results: 1 item(s)
    Internet Connectivity :: Failed

I can create a Diagnostic Report, should I post the whole thing or a specific section to look at?

...and running Norton Autofix again...renders same "failed to fix"

Did you Restart (not Shut down) machine?

Be sure you are using the Restart command. Not Shut down and startup again if you have Windows Fast Startup feature enabled. If you use Windows 8/8.1, 10 or 11, there can be an issue with the Windows Fast Startup feature.. See more information here. (credit peterweb)

That scared me a little as well. Happens to me every so often, I guess since everything is green lit and good to go, there isn't an issue. It does put a mini heart attack on you though!

Okay, thanks!

Hi, Benjamin. I also got this message, even though I was fully connected to the Internet.

A minor bug with the new version, it seems. I ran the Diagnostic Scan option in Scans, and it came back all ok.

As long as you have the green tick, and all else is working, I wouldn't worry.

Well I believe it is because of what? No plug n play there’s nothing about computer hackers
