Norton backup file size is out of control

My backup file is now approximately 3 times the size of the files that I am backing up.  I'm backing up about 300 GB of data, but the file is around 918 GB.  It wasting a lot of space on my backup drive.

I understand that Norton is protecting older versions of my files, but where is the tool or means of removing the outdated versions of these files I no longer need.  It doesn't appear that there is any aging tool which removes very old versions of files.

I only have a 1 TB backup drive and it will fill up soon, at this rate.  Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

I found the area within "Manage backup set" where I can manually delete files that I no longer need.  It was challenging to locate, but for reference to anybody else experiencing this problem, you can find directions for deleting at this address:
