I'd appreciate some help to try to understand if it is correct that Norton Backup is supposed to generate large files on the C-Drive. Currently there is a subdirectory on my C-Drive under Norton entitled "0". It currently sits at about 9GB in size and is preventing me now from loading and updating software. I have a partition on my hard drive and tried removing the directory and large .ARC file onto the other area which has sufficient space but it won't let my delete the file from the original location.
Any ideas greatly appreciated - I have backed up online but this does seem odd.
Thanks in advance

I am having the same problem and I only do Online Backup, No backups to the computer. The size of my 0 folder is 57 Gig. Pretty soon, Windows is gonna start crashing, I only have 47 Gig free on my C Drive. Help anyone ?
If you are backing up online then you should have no noticable difference in your space used on your c drive.
To examine the problem I would recommend you use the Norton Backup Drive which is available through Norton 360 v3 (if you have version 3).
To access the Norton Backup Drive simply navigate to My Computer -> Norton Backup Drive. The Norton Backup Drive is a virtual drive representing all of the data that you have backed up.
The online data you have backed up should appear under Secure Online Storage and any local data should appear under the drive letter that you backed up to (in this case C). If you notice any data that is not where you would expect it to be you can delete it by right clicking the backup set or files/folders and clicking the delete menu item.
If you do not see the data you expect under Secure Online Storage I would recommend you take a look at your backup configuration and insure that all of your backup sets are in fact pointing to the online destination and not to a local drive.
Have got the same problem. Followed the advice and the C drive shows as having no backups, they only show online. Tried to manually remove the files from the: C:\ProgramData\Norton\{0C55C096-0F1D-4F28-AAA2-85EF591126E7}\Norton\Backup\0 folder however they are in use and this failed.
I have 4 .arc files, 2 x 1.8GB, 1 x 2.2 GB and a 1GB file. On my 30GB C: drive this is crippling my PC. I have tried turning off backups, but this also had no effect.
I checked my settings, i have "Secure Online Storage" selected, yet, i have over 50 GB worth of backups stored on my computer. What is more annoying is i can't delete these files.
Is there a patch/fix/solution to this problem? Furthermore, if i uninstalled Norton 360, would that erase the backup files?
Edit:
To clarify, i have checked the My Computer -> Norton Backup Drive.
It says there are *no* backups on the C Drive, D Drive, or E Drive. Only backups Online.
However, there are 11 ARC Files on the computer taking up 4.5 GB each.
I contacted Norton and they were able to talk me through solving the problem. To erase the files you have disable Norton Tamper Protection Under Settings. You should also delete any backup sets that are backing up to your hard drives and make sure you are set to backup only to your online storage.
It worked. I got my hard drive back. Still have little idea as to why it backups on the computer though. The settings are definantly pointed to Online Secure Storage.
Well, i'll know what to do now if it does it again, that is the main thing. Thank you once again.
