I recently installed Java on my desktop computer and decided to update Norton and do a quick scan before turning off the computer. I checked NIS' recent history on a whim and noticed that after I'd installed Java there was an incident in my history saying that new firewall rules had been created for Windows Installer, as well as two instances where two files had been blocked from accessing my Norton files.
I checked the location of both files. One was in my temp folder and the other was listed as C:\WINDOWS\INSTALLER\MSIDA8.TMP
After searching for both files, I can't find either of them on my computer. They don't seem to exist. I'm not sure if this had anything to do with the Java installation, but I don't imagine it did. I tried looking for information about either file online but I can't seem to find anything.
I can't find these mystery files and I've no idea what they do. So now I'm wondering if I should be worried. Could these be some kind of virus/spyware on my computer? I did a full system scan but Norton found nothing.
