Norton 360 is blocking the connection of Skype to the interent. This has occurred in the past week. Previously I did not have any problems. When I disable the Firewall, Skype will connect to the internet. I have removed Skype and reloaded, updated to the latest version of Norton 360, reset the firewall, tried to add Skype to Program Rules in settings without any success.
When I click reset Smart Firewall, then click Continue, nothing seems to happen. The Apply icon doesn't turn yellow and will not activate. When I open Program Rules in Firewall Settings, there is no drop down menu with a list of applications. When I click Add, nothing happens.
I have this apparently same problem and spending a lot of time messing around with it. "You already have the latest version of your Norton product installed on your computer" saya Norton. My other standby computer works fine with Skype as did this (my main PC) until the other day.
In summary I find that on the defective PC, in Norton360-->Settings-->Firewall-->Program Rules--> Trust- Program -Access the table is totally blank and there is no way to add a program. Wheras as on my fully working standby PC the table is full of Program names plus Access Allow boxes.
I could access Skype by turning off the Firewall for 15 mins.
Dick submitted this solution (below) a couple of weeks ago. Is this equally applicable to my symptoms?
"Sounds like maybe a bit or a byte got misplaced during one of the last updates. Try clicking on Support _. Get Support and then Fix Now. If that doesn't clear the problem then download and run the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool
