Thanks but
The MKV file has been scanned with NIS 2011 and it is fine
I'm uploading to a NAS not another PC, It is fully updated with the latest firmware.
I'm running XP SP3 and everything is clean,
All my programs are upto date and the firewall is blocking the upload to my NAS
I think its a false positive
Norton firewall is blocking a clean file i'm trying to upload to my NAS as it thinks that the java.exe on my pc is attacking the NAS as you can see in the pic I linked
Hi StanleyTylon5M,
If you are sure this is a false positive you can tell Norton to ignore this IPS signature (it pertains to a vulnerabiltiy that only applies to very old versions of Adobe Acrobat Reader, anyway):
In the main Norton window click Settings > Network Settings. Scroll down to Intrusion Prevention, Intrusion SIgnatures and click Configure[+]. In the Intrusion SIgnatures list, scroll down to HTTP Adobe Acrobat Plugin XSS, uncheck it and OK your way out.
Bear in mind that if you ever do come across this threat in real life you will not be protected, but if you are not running any ancient Adobe Acrobat programs, this is not a concern.

Can't I just get the file to my NAS box and then open norton and recheck the box?
Its strangfe as this file is is the largest of the batch I'm uploading and the others managed to get uploaded before idle scan came up.
Now after doing the above deselecting XSS in the IPS this happens

Its now blocking my explorer.exe!!!! the whole computer is now blocked from internet and I have to reset the computer to get internet back
Can Anybody Suggest a FIX, or a rule to create to bypass this?
This is the second problem I've had with this firewall blockinjg me from the internet and doing normal everyday things!!
I'm getting really frustrated with this AV suite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
HI StanleyTylon5M,
The latest screenshots you posted are Norton Product Tamper Protection events in which Norton has blocked explorer.exe from accessing a Norton file or process. This is normal and does not prevent explorer.exe from running or performing its usual tasks, so this is not likely to be the cause of your connectivity problems.
I am not sure why you have no internet connectivity at this point. Explorer.exe is not Internet Explorer, and I am not sure that losing the internet would be related to deselecting the IPS signature. Check the Norton Security Map and make sure that your Local Area Connection trust level is "Shared" or "Full Trust.", You might also try using the Smart Firewall reset feature in the Firewall Advanced Settings. This will restore all FIrewall rules to their defaults which should correct any misconfiguration that might be causing the issue you are having.
Its got to be linked, looking in NIS's history events the event shown (in the link) is at the same time as the upload being stopped, this event shows in the history many times and I have checked it myself against the times stopped!
Norton is blocking something that is fully trusted on a fully trusted network
So can anybody give me instructions on how to create a rule or should I just disable the ENTIRE av suite in order to upload some safe files on my own network?
