Welcome,
Sounds like an extreme solution. I'm running both NIS and chrome on this system and 360 and chrome on a test system. No problems with either.
How many times have you rebooted and have you run all of the updates so that the program is telling you that all updates have been downloaded and installed?

Although extreme, I am leaning to what is written above. (Uninstalling NIS) when running with chrome/firefox, the browser becomes unresponsive - it was occastional, but today 11 nov 9:14 GMT I cannot use chorme at all with Norton Identity enabled.

Hi thaijay,
I have been using Chrome for close to a year, and have had pretty good luck with it. That being said, the fact of the matter is Chrome and the Norton extension have a history of not playing well together. Even with all of both Norton and Chrome updates over time, things have got better, but not as good as a person would like.
You can be updated and rebooted to your eyebrows, but it does not work perfect for everyone. I am always updated, but once in awhile I'll have the unresponsive problem also. Fortunately, it's not constant, so it's never been a serious problem for me.
Are you updated to the latest version - 23.0.1271.64. You can try running Norton Autofix to check your Norton installation. Support > Get Support. I wouldn't recommend disabling the extension like some have, as that would leave Safe Web useless.

I have used NIS 2011 ~ 2013 with Chrome and never faced any issues before, Norton has never blocked Google Chrome for me. However, there have been some site incompatibility issues. Accessing some sites can conflict with Norton's Identity Safe auto fill in which causes the site to be unresponsive and crashes. Due to this, I have disabled Identity Safe.
One possibility of why Norton could be blocking Chrome could be that if chrome.exe is infected with a worm that could have hooked itself to it, OR for some reason Google Chrome is set to "Block" in Program Control located in Settings. Norton is sto automatically take actions so if it automatically blocked Chrome there must be good reasons for it.
Have a look at your History, and see if there are any instances where Norton has detected any malicious activity with Chrome or other programs.
