Hi, recently I had created another thread of a bug in Norton: https://community.norton.com/en/forums/norton-360-keeps-showing-ip-address-trying-access-nordlynxappex-even-when-app-blocking and I contacted NordVPN support team too because after allowing those IPs to access the internet, kernel panic occurs. It has been happening every day. That notification is displayed immediately after the machine resumes from sleep. I can see lots of remoted crashes on console. I contacted them and this is what they wrote:
Hello,
Thank you for your letter.
From the information you have provided, we can see that the Norton application you have installed is trying to block the VPN connection of the NordVPN application.
The NordLynx.appex
processes are used by our application to establish/maintain a VPN connection using the NordLynx VPN protocol.
Since the Norton anti-virus application is flagging the connections, it is highly likely that it is causing the Kernel Panic error messages on the operating server itself.
We would recommend contacting Norton's support staff directly regarding this problem, as there is not much that we can do from our side to circumvent the connection flagging by the aforementioned anti-virus software.
They are blaming Norton for this kernel panic. So most likely Norton is the culprit behind this kernel panic. Let me know if you need more information. I have uploaded those crash reports on my Google drive: [Removed]
System specs:
MacBook Pro 16 with latest macOS
Norton 360 8.8.1 Premium

Not really, I use NordVPN only as Norton VPN is almost useless to me. Also, like I mentioned in my previous post, I have upgraded to Ventura. Have not seen that issue ever since. Let's hope it's stable right now.
When you say:
Hi, tried that too won't happen if Norton is not enabled
Are you referring to the Norton VPN being enabled alongside of Nord?

Hi, tried that too won't happen if Norton is not enabled. Yesterday I upgraded to macOS Venture and have not seen that problem yet. Let's see if it happens again. I have also enabled NordVPN again, got that notification few minutes back. Didn't see kernel panic till now. Thanks
Having asked earlier, have you tried removal of your Norton product, a clean boot afterward and validate if Norton was/is the issue? That is the easiest manner to pinpoint whether the OS or Norton is the root cause. I always troubleshoot from the inside out.

Like I have mentioned in the other thread, when kill switch is turned on NordVPN switches to NordLynx protocol which is different from WireGuard protocol. I have tried almost everything, nothing works. Right now I have had to disable NordVPN because that bug in Norton 360 keeps bugging me with that popup then kernel panic.
Thanks
FWIW!! What are your Norton VPN settings set at? I'm not a MAC user, however it is a known fact that NordVPN also uses WireGuard, much the same as the Norton VPN in N360 and the standalone VPN. There is a discussion here in the regard to kernel panic and the OS itself protecting the kernel vice user installed 3rd party apps. Nothing is mentioned regarding Norton IMA. It sounds like a WireGuard protocol conflict is happening. Have you reset your Norton firewall and/or, uninstalled your Norton product to validate whether the kernel and internal security are creating the panic? Just a thought trying to help.

It looks like com.symantec.mes.systemextension crashes a lot in the background as I can see lots of it in the console. I have uploaded the crash reports of it in the same folder. Will Norton look into this issue or just keep ignoring feedbacks?
