Norton charged me 79.99 without me knowing

So today I looked at my account and theres a pending charge of 79.99 by norton. WHAT THE FLYING F IS THIS?! How do I cancel the charge I do not want norton renewed or anything.

You can contact Live chat, explain the situation to them and they should be able to help you out. There is a 60 day money back guarantee with your purchase of home products.

Live chat- www.norton.com/chat

The reason you were charged was proably because you have Automatic Renewal enabled in your Norton Account.

The live chat guy told me thats not a norton product

Hi,

Then I would contact the credit card company as soon as possible and dispute the charge.

Keep us in the loop

Hello tommk

What is the pending charge for? Which product? Did you have any malware removed by Norton? Have you used Norton in the past? Thanks.

tommk,

Sorry to hear that but there are scams about that don't involve Norton.

As recommended do "enter a dispute" immediately with your credit card company and be careful not to touch anything this scammer may have managed to install on your computer.

If you think you may be infected do please ask for help since there is plenty of experience in dealing with malware.

I was able to get it resolved. When I was talking to the live chat guy I don't know why he said the charge wasn't the name of a norton purchase because it was. I was also using the wrong norton account while chatting with the guy so it didn't show up for him. But when I logged in with my other account and talked to a live chat guy it turned out it was from norton and was a automatic renewal charge from the free trial I was using.

I don't see why they had to put the renewal charge in the fine print of the agreement lol i mean jeez really norton? Really? A little more notice would have been appreiciated lol. He said I will be refunded in 2 to 3 days.

Thanks for the replies :)

@ floplot It was a renewal for a norton 360 trial I believe.

I am being charged 79.99 as well and didn't sign up for anything from Norton. The only thing I can think of is I downloaded the FREE version of webroot on my tab. I've been on hold with Norton now for about 30 minutes. There are posts all over the Internet about people going through the same thing. Y'all need to fix this.

If you are using a phone link to cancel please try the CHAT route via your computer keyboard:

Please let us know how you get on ....

BTW I just went to one of the Norton Free Trials and I did see that when you click on Download it is coming from a source labeled BuyNorton ..... but I agree that unlike when I last looked at Trial downloads there is nothing about opting out. It just downloaded an exe file called NIS-TW-30-19-1-0-28-EN which looks like the normal one piece install file but Trial Ware for 30 days.

Could you say where and when you downloaded please? Webroot is nothing to do with Norton so far as I know  ....

By the way they actually had emailed me telling me they were going to renew the trial but the email was sent to my old account so I never saw it.

So is it all sorted out now?
