Norton comandline scan configuration

Hi all,

Please see the file attached.

I'm trying to configure NIS to scan any file downloaded by the software free download manager in its settings. But the current editing (highlighted by blue can be only used to launch NIS main window. Can anyone help me with the arguments to do scanning of the file downloaded by the s/w.

 Thanks in advance...

Hi,

Help me understand what part of the active scanning feature of NIS isn't working as files / programs are being downloaded into your computer? It is possible that compressed files may get downloaded without detection but they will be scanned as you unpack them.

Thanks

Hi dickevans,

Actually none of the files/ programs downloaded via free download manager aka FDM is being shown in NIS performance tab, ie NIS may be aware of it as just some file transfers and not as downloads. In the attachment is a screenshot of FDM settings to scan every file downloaded through it. Since I'm not much familiar with commandline parameters and configuration of NIS, I need help in adding the arguments such that norton can scan the files downloaded without manual interruption with NIS / FDM for scanning. I referred to NIS command line configuration webpages provided by Norton/ Symantec but too confused to use which all parameters/ arguments.

The command line executable is navw32.exe, not the uistub you have yours set for.

Use the arrow for the drop down box to change it to:

Norton Antivirus ("navw32.exe")

(Yes, I know you have NIS but that setting should work for you).

Arguments: %file% /s

Try downloading a file and make sure it works.

If you get tired of having to close the scan box every download you can change the argument line to:

%file% /s /SESCAN

You will only see the scan box when a detection is made but you will not get any kind of visual clue the scan is taking place.

Edit- If a Norton employee sees this, I always felt you should have a switch to dismiss the scan box after a while

such as /seconds=x

Thanks DaveH, its working. Just %file% /s shows up with gui and %file% /s /SESCAN keeps it silent. Thanks again.

My pleasure, glad it worked for you.
