Norton Community Watch Feedback

Moved to Other Norton Products board for better exposure.

Hi

I also see in the logs that the light silent mode turns on and off when I do play. I've been using this version of system works and the antivirus part that comes with it since NY eve day and I never saw the game being reported every time I play it before.. I never had to do anything special every time I play. The full screen protection is turned on.

Since my son reformatted my computer on Friday and after System Works 12 Standard was installed again, the Norton Community Watch Feedback keeps processing every time I play Unreal Tournament online. I have been playing this game for like 10 years now and the game was reinstalled also. Why is it reporting every time I play the game now when it never did that before? I play it thru GameSpy Arcade and have been doing that for years also. I know it not reporting it as a virus I don’t think, but I never saw that entry every time I play it and I play it all the time. Unreal Tournament is an online multiplayer game.

I thought if I had a problem with the antivirus part of System Works, it gets posted in the NIS and Antivirus part of the forum. I went to click on the last post I made and got an email saying I had the post. Now when I went to click on it, the message said my topic was deleted. In the past when my topic was moved, I would get an email with the new link in it. This is getting very confusing now knowing where to post my topics.  When it’s in this section, my antivirus topics get buried by ghost and other products. Since the antivirus part is the same as in NIS part, I was told that is where I should post them. Now, very rudely, it just says my topic was deleted when in fact it was moved.

Do you play this game online? If yes, please check the firewall rules, and set it to allow the connections. Then try to run the game again.

floplot,

Sorry for the inconvenience. We don't delete the message unless the user has posted in more than one thread or board. We move threads across boards for better exposure. In such cases, we leave a placeholder message that will contain the link to the redirected post as well. For instance, check the post below.

Please post your message in the forum feedback board, if you have any concerns with the way your posts are handled by our moderation team.

Hi

It's just that when I saw the message that said my message was deleted, I thought the topic was gone. It was only by looking at the other threads in the different parts that I was able to find that the post wasn't deleted, but was in fact moved. If I didn't continue to look at other threads, I would have never known it was moved. I have had my topics moved before and then I was given the new link like in your example. I had 2 threads going because there were differnt topics. One has to do with the NPROTECT.exe and the other was about Norton community watch part in the Antivirus part, so I figured it required to different topics since it was 2 different problems. Sorry, I guess next time I have to includ all the problems in one topic even though they pertain to different parts. I had posted here originally, then someone moved my antivirus questions to the NIS section since it would get better exposure there. And it did get better exposure there after me waiting for days with no responses from this part.

Hi

Yes, I do play this game online. However, System works doesn't have Norton's Fire Wall in it, so I can not put it in Norton's Fire wall permissions. In fact, I can't give permissions for anything in the Norton's Antivirus part as far as programs I use. I still don't understand why I am getting all these entries in the tamper product part that says duplicate objects of all these things. My computer was just reformatted and the same thing is happening. I don't see any place in the Antivirus part where I can allow any programs.

Just for the time of a test turn off Auto-protect (right click on the tray icon), and run the game.
Let us know the results.

Will Norton’s Antivirus 2010 email scan port 867 also for outgoing emails? I’m asking this in this thread because when I opened another thread in NIS section, it ended up in here, It’s hard to know where to post Antivirus questions because I have System Works standard which has the same version of Antivirus as is in NIS I have been told. From what I have seen, antivirus questions seem to get answered more often in the NIS part than in here.

From version 2009 NAV has no firewall any more, like in the previous 2008 version was (that was only an inbound one).
It can scan only the files and when you get an email in your client, then it can scan it only as a “file”, but can’t check the opened ports, as it is done by firewalls.

Hi

Are you saying then that there won't be any more scanning of email when it is coming in and out thru Outlook Express. ?Before I had to switch outgoing email to port 587, I could see that email was being scanned as it left Outlook Express. Since I had to change the outgoing port, I know that Norton's doesn't scan it any more. I am still on XP Pro sp3. I know that with 2009 NAV scanned email when it was using port 25. So you mean with NAV 2010, there won't be any scanning of email coming in or going out thru any port, either port 25 or 587? Does that mean it will only be scanned let's say if I open up a pic to look at it, otherwise it won't be scanned? Are you saying then that it will be compatable with other fire walls like zone alarm pro then? Sorry for being so dense. I guess that comes with old age and lack of much computer knowledge.

Hi

Does Norton Community Watch that is part of the Antivirus part process every file that is on my computer? It seems like every file is being sent to Symantec. Every time I look at the log, it's processing like another 20 + files and .dlls etc. I don't remember this being done like this until we tried to repair XP Pro and then ended up doing a reformat of my C drive which is my main drive. It looks like even files on my external drive is being analyzed and that is just a backup drive. My d drive has stuff on it that just shows what is currently installed as far as .exe files that I wanted to save. It's like a storage area. The active part of my computer is the c drive. If it's going to examine things on my d drive and external drive, then it's going to see stuff on my computer twice, but only installed on the c drive. Maybe this is why I am seeing entries that say double on them and they are being stopped. This really has to do with the Antivirus part of Norton System Works 12, but it has been moved here I know. Do the people from the Antivirus part in NIS come to look in this section of the forum also? I've been told that it is the same version of Norton's Antivirus that is used in NIS. Maybe I put the wrong name for the topic since it's really  questions about the Antivirus part. I just know that System Works isn't a very popular program any more.

Moved to NIS/NAV board for better exposure.
