OK, no mocking my thrifty system:
AMD Duron 1.6Ghz, 2G Ram, Windows 7 Home Basic 32 bit, Norton internet Security 2012.
I initially got a 3048,3 error, so I did what it said, ending up with using the removal tool and re-installing NIS-ESD-20-1-1-2-EN.exe. This crashed Windows 7 Home Basic while Windows was starting.
I managed to start OK in safe mode, and used the removal tool to remove NIS again and started up again. Since then I’ve tried the Norton Power Eraser, even the Boot Recovery Tool from CD. I’ve searched the forums and tried all sort of fixes, including replacing my video card, just to check it was not a problem. Still the same issue with crashing exists when NIS is installed.
Got desperate, loaded Windows 7 Home Basic on a new disk, installed NIS. NIS does not install all the updates. Gets to number 2, then stops. Similarly stops when doing a virus scan, then got the 3048,3 error again.
Rather carrying on with the new disk, I rather go back to the original and get it sorted,as there are a lot of programmes to install.
I have the same version of NIS running successfully on other PC’s, but they have better processors and have the Windows 7 Professional version. I even have one on XP working fine.
Any Solution ?
